What a Proper Refurbishment Process Looks Like

1. Intake and data destruction
Every device is logged by serial number, and the previous owner's data is securely erased using certified wiping methods. This protects the previous owner and gives the device a clean, traceable history from day one.
2. Full component diagnostics
Each subsystem is tested individually: CPU, GPU, RAM, storage SMART health, battery controller data, display (dead pixels, backlight), keyboard, trackpad, camera, speakers, microphone, WiFi, and every physical port. A boot-up check is not a diagnostic — every component needs its own pass/fail evidence.
3. Sustained stress testing
Short tests miss the faults that matter most. Professional refurbishers run sustained CPU and GPU load while monitoring temperatures and clock speeds, exposing dried-out thermal paste, failing fans, and unstable memory that a two-minute check would never catch.
4. Repair, clean, and grade
Failed components are replaced, thermal paste is renewed where needed, and the chassis is deep-cleaned. Cosmetic grading (A/B/C) is applied honestly and separately from functional condition — a scratched lid on fully healthy internals should be graded and priced as exactly that.
5. Certification the buyer can verify
